David John Walkowiak (b. 18 June 1953) is a Roman Catholic bishop.〔(David John Walkowiak )〕 He was appointed as bishop of Grand Rapids on April 18, 2013 by Pope Francis following the resignation of Bishop Walter Allison Hurley.〔(New Grand Rapids bishop:David John Walkowiak, 59 )〕 He is of Polish descent.〔http://www.posteaglenewspaper.com/new-polish-bishop-in-michigan/〕 After attending Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1975. He later earned a Master of Divinity at Saint Mary Seminary in Wickliffe and was ordained for the Diocese of Cleveland on June 9, 1979. Later he obtained a Licentiate and Doctorate in Canon Law at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC (1984-1988). After ordination, he served as assistant pastor of Saint Mary Parish in Lorain (1979-1984) and Vice-Chancellor of the Diocese of Cleveland and Professor of Canon Law at Saint Mary Seminary (1988-2006). From 2006-2013 he was pastor of Saint Joan of Arc Parish in Chagrin Falls.
